After a long and controlling conservatorship a judge has finally approved the termination of the conservatorship, freeing Britney Spears the controversial legal arrangement.

Normally Convervatorships are put into place for infirm of older people who can no longer make decisions for themselves. But in 2008 the courts did this and took away her rights to make basic decisions about her caree, finances and personal life. Spears was placed into the conservatorship after facing mental health struggles and amid vicious paparazzi abuse in 2008. The pop star objected the arrangement and especially her farther’s role in it, she tried to hire an lawyer to advocate for her but the couts ruled that she did not have the capacity to select an attornery, but gave her a court-appointed lawyer instead.

This conservatorship particular meant that Britney Spears had to pay for her farther, his legal team and also others involved in the case. Ingham made an estimated $3 Million representing Britney Spears, charging $475 an hour.

Spears always objected to the arrangement over the years and tryed to end the conservatorship multiple times but Ingham did not advocate the conservatorship to end so it didn’t, meaning Spears was stuck in this endless cycle of 13 years. She told court the truth countless times saying that she was forced to perform against her will, has a limited allowance, her father even stopped her from making cosmetic changes to her kitchen, she was also reportedly forced into a mental health facility against her will for speaking up in rehearsal. She also addressed the court remotely saying she had been drugged and stopped her from getting married and having more children.

In July Spears was finally allowed to hire a lawyer, who soon advocated jame to be removed and vowed to investigate his actions and handling of her money. In her court appearance she also asked the judge to end the “abusive” arrangement saying that it “traumatised” her.

But today was a massive step for Britney Spears she told her 35 million instagram followers “I think i’m gonna cry” after ending her conservatorship.

And as of Friday the 12th November Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny has ruled in favour of Spears Request to end the conservatorship which was not opposed by any of the parties involve. Judge Penny said an accountant who served as a temporary conservator should retain some powers to settle ongoing financial issues, as a part of the ruling

Many fans gathered outside the LA court to support spears and the #freeBritney movement. The rallying support planned a “ freedom party” this evening (12th Nov 2022) following the current advent.
